celebrating baby Axel’s first month baby shower, Toby invited us over to his new office for a homecook buffet on the first Monday of 2012.
instead of fiddling with the pretty newborn baby, we had our own fun participating in a impromptu ice-cream making session first, conducted by the boss. looking up to the young and capable dad – Toby, i couldn’t help thinking how lucky baby Axel is. while having ice-cream was a rare treat in my childhood days, this baby is born to a dad with an ice-cream empire! in years to come, he’ll probably be learning how to make his own while his toddler friends are crying and screaming for their parents to buy them a stick of Walls’ ice-cream. haa!
- Creating my own bowl of yummy Creme Brulee & Hazelnut ice-cream in just 30 mins! -
thanks to the already pre-mixed base, all i needed to do was add in flavorings i like . . stir it well and freeze it (instantly)!
now, i always thought making ice-cream is a long process because you got to put it in the freezer for hours to freeze it. so i was pretty curious and skeptical when Toby said we could do our own ice-cream out of anything we want like alcohol and try it immediately!
Little did i know that in the advance technology of ice-cream making, all you need is some liquid Nitrogen to freeze it instantly!
As explained by Toby, the big cyclinder contains highly compressed Nitrogen gas at a temperature of -200 degree celsius. A pair of safety goggles and chemical gloves is needed to prevent direct contact with our skin or body because it can freeze our limbs or cause frost bites! Only my playful hunsy volunteered to fill up the kettle with Nitrogen, while i scrammed to the furthest corner knowing how ‘hazardous’ he can be.
look at the layer of frost formed on the kettle’s surface once the gas condensed in the kettle and turned into liquid!
as Toby was pouring liquid Nitrogen into my bowl, i only missed that few seconds of stirring while taking photos and my ice-cream hardened into little lumps!
it didnt look very appetizing i admit, but it still tasted really good! haha.
- Babies are so soft and squirmy to hold, i just love to carry and smell them (as long as they are not mine)! -
shifting our attention back to the baby after messing up the place, we took turns holding him and i couldn’t stop marvelling at baby Axel’s full head of long black hair. he’s even got sideburns and that’s why we call him a rocker baby!
It was an interesting note to see how my usually playful and wtf-faced boyfriend changed once Axel was put in his arms. I swear he looked somewhat careful, tender and loving – a behaviour completely new to me even after 1 year! haha. i really like the picture where he was looking and smiling at the baby. Awww . . an image of him as a father.
Congrats again, Toby and Sheryl!
Would love to visit again soon to see baby Axel please!
